Manolo Rose grew up in the Marcy Houses/Marcy Projects (the childhood home of rappers and lablemates Jay-Z and Memphis Bleek). Jay-Z often described the Bed-Stuy public housing complex as a unsafe area to live, with soaring crime rates and preponderance of crack cocaine and at a young age, Manolo Rose started selling crack but he got out of the game to pursue a musical career.
On June 4, Manolo Rosereleased his debut project Concrete Rose
on Datpiff on the strength of the Boyz n the Hood - inspired hit single “Run Ricky Run,” its follow-up Gun Fu, and his breakout single “Dope Man (later re-titled “All About The Money”).
