Larry June grew up in San Francisco’s Bayview neighborhood. His parents split up when he was a bairn. At the early age of four, June ensconced to Atlanta, Georgia with his mother while his father stayed in the Hunter’s Point district. While living in Atlanta was soon exposed to The A’s local hip-hop scene. The local rappers from Atlanta had a big influence on his decision to rap. The Bay Area native was influenced by Atlanta’s Trap sound way before Trap became mainstream.

They would spend alot of their time together in the studio. During these long studio sessions Larry June taught himself how to play keyboard by ear. The keyboard was a gift from his father. June would spend long hours in the studio apace with his father. When he turned 8, he embarked on his rapping career and recording his own songs.
