New Video: Nas - One Love (@_max_i_million_ Remix)

Last year was undoubtedly the year of Nas, celebrating the 20th anniversary of groundbreaking debut album “Illmatic” and the release of the indebt documentary “Nas: Time Is Illmatic”. In the past you have heard your favourite artists, producers and labels drop their very own tributes of Nasir Jones timeless catalogue and next up to take a stab at it is Swedish producer Max I Million from Counterweight Records.

The EP “7 Days of Nas” adds a new twist to the concept of a Nas tribute project. This EP is released during seven days (one track per day) and available exclusively through Counterweight Records Soundcloud page. For the beats, Max deploys an array of sounds, flipping everything from bass driven synthesizers samples, mellow jazz chords to heavy boom bap drums. Making the vibe perfectly resonate with Nas original concepts and metaphorical wordplay. To top it of DJ Devastate joins in on the crossfader, providing razor sharp cuts and scratches for the choruses. Keyboard wizard Fredrik Segerfalk also joins in to add add some analog soundscapes.

The EP “7 Days of Nas” is the latest release from Swedish label “Counterweight Records”. It’s released in collaboration with music platform and online radio Laid Back Radio (LDBK) from Brussels. The artwork is flipped by Jonas Hilmersson, an illustration made in its entirety from classic Nas lyrics.
